Hello there!

So happy you're here. If you're reading this, it either means that you've booked a session with me. Yay!

Below you'll find some information about what to expect during your session and how to prepare. I know there's a lot of words, but read carefully and let me know if you have any questions!

LOCATION

We will meet at my studio, 805 Central Ave, Fort Dodge, IA 50501, at your scheduled session time. I am located in the Snell Building, directly to the right of the Boston Centre. You will see black double doors with red awnings and "Snell Building" engraved in the stone above. The building will be locked, so please send me a message when you arrive and I will come meet you at the door to let you in!

WEAR LOOSE CLOTHING

Tight clothing can leave lines or indentations on your skin, so it is best to wear something loose/oversized before your session.

DRINK PLENTY OF WATER

Keep yourself hydrated! I'm going to pose you in certain positions that might be a little more straining on your body than you're used to. Nothing too crazy, but you most likely aren't sitting in these positions for an extended period of time every day.

SKIN CARE

Many people think it's so important to look dark and golden for their session, but this isn't always the case! If you choose to get a spray tan, please go light and give yourself several days for it to set in well. Otherwise, embrace your natural skin tone!

Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! Lotion is your best friend. Keeping your skin moisturized and hydrated will help it to look beautiful and healthy in front of the camera.

Watch for tan lines! If you are planning to be out in the sun at any point before your session, make sure to put on sunscreen to avoid burning or getting any tan lines. It can be very difficult to correct tan lines, so additional editing may cost more $$$.

NAILS

Keep your nails (fingers and toes) clean and trimmed. You can choose to paint them, get them done professionally, or leave them natural. That's all up to you!

HAIR

It's best to keep your hair down and flowing free. Don't worry about getting your hair done in a fancy updo. We're going to be tossing it around and getting it a little messy, so it's okay to leave it down. Whether you curl it, straighten it, or leave it natural is your choice.

THe "DOWN THERE" Hair

Hair, no matter where it comes from, is very natural. Shave it, wax it, or leave it as is! Whatever you decide isn't going to offend me. Be YOURSELF.

All I ask is that if you decide to shave/wax (any location), do so a day or two before your session to allow time for any skin redness or irritation to settle. Also, EXFOLIATE.

MAKEUP

We are ALMOST to the point of offering hair and makeup services, but not quite. Makeup is NOT required! I always say to be yourself and go with whatever you would normally wear. No need to cake on a face of makeup if that's not what you're feeling. If so, GREAT! If not, also great :)

AUNT "FLO" IS ON THE GO...

Is your monthly visitor set to arrive around the time of your session? Not a problem. AT. ALL. While it may seem weird or uncomfortable to do a boudoir session with your period, it is very much doable! Ultimately, it is up to your comfortability level. It's nothing I haven't seen or heard about, so feel free to chat with me about it. If you really feel that you need to reschedule, please reach out to me as soon as possible.

STRETCH

Some of you might be thinking, "Maddy, I'm not a yoga person", but you are today! We're going to be doing some arching and bending, so along with being hydrated, it's important to stretch your body beforehand. Everyone laughs at me until you're feeling the burn during your session. I promise you won't regret it.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Outfits, or a lack thereof, are important when it comes to a boudoir session. Don't stress too much about what you want to wear though! I recommend choosing something you feel confident and sexy in. That doesn't always have to be a cute lingerie set. If you're more into the boy-short undies and an oversized shirt, that's perfectly fine!

OVERALL

I know some of this information can be overwhelming, but if you get anything out of it, it should be to BE YOURSELF. Don't stress over creating the perfect façade for the camera. You are the most important thing and no matter what you wear, how your hair is done, or if your makeup and nails are perfect, you are BEAUTIFUL. Always remember that.
